Lab Tour: Regenerative Medicine Institute
The Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute focuses on novel ways to regenerate organs and transplant stem cells for tissue repair. At the core of the Institute is a specialized facility dedicated to the production and study of induced pluripotent stem cells, or iPS cells.
iPS cells are adult skin cells that have been genetically reprogrammed to “go back in time.” once they have reverted to a state similar to embryonic stem cells, they can be made to grow into virtually any tissue in the human body.
